Bija Mantra for Sacral Chakra: VAM

Bija Mantras are seed syllable mantras for the chakras. They are effective at energizing the kundalini, balancing the subtle energy in chakras, tonifying organs and endocrine glands, and enhancing positive emotions.

In this recording, I chant the Bija mantra for the sacral chakra: VAM. It is pronounced "VUM" with emphasis on the "V" and "M" to generate the appropriate sound wave pattern.

This bija enhances the the sense of one's place in the larger order of things. It's associated element is water. Associated color is orange. Associated symbol is a silver crescent. Visualizing these intentions, elements colors and symbols help to direct the energy of the sound.

There are two ways to chant bija mantras, at a slower, yin, pace. Or, a faster, yang, pace. A yin pace would have recitation per outbreath. A yang pace would have multiple recitations per outbreath. You can find both styles on this page.

Yin style chanting with accompaniment

In this recording, I am chanting with a monochord. The monochord is tuned to C and I am chanting one 5th above that (G).

Yin style chanting with voice only
