FAQs

  • Sound healing is generally safe for most people,

Certain conditions or medical devices require extra caution and sometimes medical clearance when scheduling sound healing.

It is recommended that you consult your doctor before your first use of sound healing if any of the following conditions or devices apply to you:

    • Cartoid stenosis

    • Cardiac pacemakers, artificial heart valves, or cardiac arrhythmias

    • Stents or shunts

    • Deep brain stimulation device (DBS)

    • Epilepsy

    • Pregnancy

If you’re experiencing a medical issue and aren’t sure if sound healing is right for you, contact me, or your healthcare provider.

  • That depends on your session type.

For transformational sound journeys, you’ll need to complete some intake forms (links will be sent with your appointment confirmation). We’ll discuss your responses at the beginning of your session.

During these session, you’ll be invited to engage in intention setting, breathing, visualization and toning. Although these are recommended they are never required.

For simply sound sessions and small groups, please be sure to review the contraindications on the bookings page to ensure sound healing is safe for you. Otherwise, just dress comfortably and look forward to relaxing!

For coachign/consultation appointments, have a basic idea of things you’d like to work on, or questions you’d like to ask.

For all session types, I offer filtered water and tea ready for you, but if you would like anything additionally for your comfort please feel free to bring.

  • All in-person sessions will be at my place of practice in Louisville in the Highlands.

When you book your session, I will send my address and any other directions or details for your arrival.

Virtual sessions will be held over Zoom. Before your appointment, I will send you a link to access our sessions. When joining the meeting, you may be any place you are comfortable!

Most people choose to lie down, but being seated is fine if that is your choice. I recommend being in a quiet, private space where you can fully relax. A darkened or dimly-lit space also can help you go deeper.

  • Sound sessions are done fully clothed. Dress comfortably with enough layers for your body temperature. Because you will be lying or sitting still for most of the session, it’s may be more likely that you will feel cool rather than warm.

  • For in-person, individual sessions, you are welcome to lie on a bodywork table, on a heated yoga mat on the floor, or to be seated in a chair depending on your preference.

Most prefer to lie on the prepared healing table, although some prefer to be on the floor for grounding and ability to move when needed. Also others are more comfortable with remaining seated.

I will have supports and blankets available to help your body rest comfortably.

For group sessions, you will be on heated mats on the floor - similar to a yoga nidra session. There will be blankets, supports and eye pillows available for your comfort.

If you’re at home, please sit or lie down in a the way you are most comfortable!

  • You will hear the sounds of my voice along with sounds of many instruments including Tibetan singing bowls, tuning forks, a monochord, a reverie harp, harmony ball, zephyr chimes, drums and more.

During the session you are certainly welcome (and encouraged!) to make sounds along with me, but this is not required.

  • After the session, we will chat about your experience, drink some tea and water to ground energy fully into the body.

Although you will be able to carry on with your day after a session, it’s best to ease back into it.

Allow adequate time between the end of your session and any other plans. This will allow space for the vibrations to settle and a gradual return to normal pace without forcing yourself to rush.

If you’ve booked a Transformational Sound Journey, I will send your session report to you within a day or two after our session.
