Your Healing Mind: Growing a Strong Intention

The basics

Crafting a high quality intention has some key elements:

Make it present tense

Craft your intention as if it were happening right now. If you can think it or envision it, you are already holding the vibratory quality of this desired state within you. Rather than thinking of it as something that you hope will happen someday, see it as a moment by moment emergence starting now. Just as the acorn always had the vibratory essence of the oak tree within it, your inner oak is continually unfolding as well. Avoid demeaning the acorn while idealizing the oak. Know that they are one in the same. Unfolding because of the other first in subtle, then in more visceral ways.

Make it positive and true

Use positive words to affirm the state of well-being you WANT. This focuses and directs supportive energies towards the vibrational frequency of well-being you are emerging, rather than on habit patterns you are transmuting or releasing. If crafting a positive statement doesn’t feel authentic for you in your current experience, try for a neutral statement that helps you feel comforted and at ease. If you find yourself creating intention statements from a place of anxiety or “should,” take a pause. Remember, your intention is about what YOU want, not about what you “should” want or be.

Make it feel good

Get your heart on board! The most effective intention statements engage the emotional energy. They may inspire joy, or lightness of being. Fill in details to make it as real for yourself as possible. Again, use yourself just as you are now, but paint a rich picture of the way you want to feel. Although you will be yourself, other elements in your vision don’t have to be tied to your reality. Allow them to emerge organically in this subtle vibratory state.

  • Where are you?

  • Who are you with?

  • What are you wearing?

  • What are you doing?

  • What are you seeing, smelling, tasting, feeling, listening to?

The better you can paint the picture, the more immersed you become in the vibratory essences of what your mind is cultivating due to the principle of sonic entrainment. Allow time to absorb the healing frequency you have created. This is powerful work and does create a ripple effect through your bio-field.

Make it memorable

Aim for a phrase and visual you can easily remember. Return to it often. This becomes your North Star or taproot that holds and feeds the vision of well being you are emerging. Repeat it out loud to yourself whenever you can, or in your head throughout your day. This may be particularly important when you encounter moments of challenge and feel your energy being pulled into dissonant patterns or habits.

Allow space for change

Intention work is nourishing. Allow yourself space to play and dream. This is a living and breathing process -- revisit your intention often and make tweaks as you go. This work will grow you, so changes are natural and necessary to reflect the ongoing depth and expanse of your growth. Subtle shifts of words and phrasing can make a big difference. Start where you are, and note your ideas for intention statements somewhere you can easily find them. Notice patterns and growth over time.
