This time of year, reminds us to honor our instinctual need to go inward. To enter the mysterious, primordial darkness — where known meets unknown — and trust that new light and fresh vitality will be found again.
The logical mind often resists the unknown, it prefers predictability and routine of habit. Even if those habits are causing dissonance, or harm, on some level. Of course the mind energy’s intention is to serve our safety and survival — but there are many more aspects to our energy that can serve us other than the mind alone.
I am thrilled to announce the launch of Charm’s Sound Self-Care service! I’ve been mentally incubating this portion of my services for a while, but am delighted to announce that it is now live and available for subscription!
With the launch of my sound self-care program, people within and beyond the metro-Louisville area can access learning tools and recordings to work with the healing power of sound from the comfort of their own homes.
In my sound self-care program, you will find a continually growing list of:
Mantras, and
Simple healing sounds, like vowels and intervals to tone the chakras.
One of my favorite things about the practice of sound healing is how helps us learn how to listen. Not just hear — but listen.
Listening and hearing are quite different. When we’re really listening, there is a certain emptiness and anticipation in the mind as we attempt to receive, and know what is coming in. When we’re hearing, we may receive sounds — but our mind is usually focused someplace else; often on our own thoughts, reactions, agendas, plans and projections.
The key difference here is attention.
The word “attention” is defined as directing the mind to listen, see or understand. In fact, the shorter word '‘attend” means “to listen” in French. So when we are really and truly listening, we are offering our attention — our desire to receive and understand something outside ourselves.
We are continually sending and receiving vibrational signals and energy through our bodies, emotions and thoughts.
The collection of these vibrations make up our own individual sound signature.
The quality of your sound signature depends on the harmony of the different vibrations in your energy field.
Raising the energy from our solar plexus into our heart requires that our actions — whatever we are willing ourselves to do — is somehow sincerely connected to our deepest values and highest aspirations. When we are in flow between these two centers, we often feel a sense of deep meaning and connectedness with what we’re doing and/or why we are doing it.
Before working with the fiery aspects of the solar plexus alone to cultivate personal power, go a level deeper into the watery, creative sacral chakra - the center of our sense of self and creative potency.
In honor of celebrating and building the energy in my transformed space, I am running a special from now until the end of September. Book with the code BACKHOME and enjoy 50% off any session bookings. The renovation process of this year offered a great opportunity to reflect on the process of transformation.
The breath is a powerful sound and method for healing and relaxation. The sound alone can be pleasing and gentle, though its sound does even more to connect our inner and outer worlds. Mindful breath has the power to relax and align the heart rate and brain waves. This is key to lowering stress and bringing heart and mind into harmony.
Sound is a form of energy that creates change. Sound energy has the ability to go deeply into our bodies, as well as into our minds. It is an energy we can both feel and hear. And when it touches us, it changes us somehow physically, emotionally, mentally or spiritually.
On the cusp of June, spring’s freshness still lingers. New blooms, fresh growth, passion and energy have ignited in the sun’s warm glow. Our motivation feels charged. We’re ready to be out in the world, to play, connect and enjoy. Yet we’re already getting a taste of the dog days of summer. When the fires of summer burn hot and spring’s cooling touch is long gone. Suddenly all the activity that felt so invigorating seems daunting. We become stressed, and our vigor is sapped. Overheated, overgrown and overwhelmed we burn out.
