Do you feel connected to what you do?

Align will power and heart

The solar plexus is our center of discernment, will power and discipline. The heart chakra is our center of connection to ourself (our deepest values and highest self), and our connection with others and the world around us. It is also the center for unconditional love, sincerity and authenticity. The element of the solar plexus is fire — you can associate this with the digestive fires of the stomach. The element of the heart area is air — you can associate this with freshness and life-giving breath that connects us with all other beings.

Raising the energy from our solar plexus into our heart requires that our actions — whatever we are willing ourselves to do — is somehow sincerely connected to our deepest values and highest aspirations. When we are in flow between these two centers, we often feel a sense of deep meaning and connectedness with what we’re doing and/or why we are doing it. Even when things feel difficult with the task at hand, if our heart energy — our core values and authentic self — are invested, we have a much easier time staying the course or following through. However, if there’s a block here - we’re going to have a much harder time staying engaged with whatever it is we’re doing.

Sometimes these blocks can be important. For instance, if we are doing something that genuinely doesn’t align with our authentic self — our deepest and highest values, it is for our benefit that we become aware of the dissonance. We might note note a sense of dissonance through feelings of burnout, disconnection, resentment or frustration. These feelings are heavy, dense, and can make our experience feel like drudgery. We become disonnected and unable to access energies from the higher aspects of ourselves. When this happens, rather than rejecting feelings of discomfort by either allowing ourselves to remain disconnected and apathetic, or forcing ourselves to press on at all costs — it is a very important sign to pay attention and understand what the dissonance is trying to communicate.

The heart center is our bridge. It connects our lower three chakras: the root, sacral and solar plexus; with the upper three chakras: the throat, third eye and crown. The lower three chakras connect us to the physical or lower frequency realm of the material world — the stuff of survival, creating personal power and identity, and using/honing that power in the material world. The upper three chakras connect us to the higher frequency realms of communication, thought, intuition, wisdom and unity.

As the bridge, the heart chakra is always trying to ensure that these material and spiritual aspects of ourselves are in tune and in flow. When they are harmonized and aligned, there is energetic flow from the non-physical to the physical, and from the physical to the non-physical. We’re able to ground our higher aspirations and spiritual wisdom into our daily efforts and infuse these efforts with higher frequency emotions like joy and gratitude. Likewise we’re able to connect our daily actions to our higher selves and sense how these actions are serving our higher purpose. Clearing the channel between our heart and our action brings the light of connection into and through what we do.
