Seed Syllable Mantra for Removing Blockages between the Root and the Throat

Pronounced GLAH-OOM, the seed syllable mantra GLAUM is used for removing blockages between the root chakra and the throat chakra.

This mantra is toned to a drone created with tuning forks and voice with the pitches of C and G.

GLAUM Toned with Drone

GLAUM toned with voice only

Tips for chanting:

  • Start at a comfortable pitch for you. To find this place, put your hand on your chest. If you can feel a tone buzzing comfortably in your chest without any strain anywhere - this is likely a great starting point!

  • You can play around with moving the pitch a touch lower if you like so you can feel the tone buzz more noticeably in the lower chakras. This is not necessary though. It’s most important to make it comfortable.

  • Make sure to sound through the AH, OH, and OO, bringing awareness to the heart, solar plexus and sacral chakras as you do so. It clears and purifies these channels.

  • Sounding the through the GL and ‘M’ will also help break up any stuck energy in the throat, and vibrate the cranium at the end which is nourishing.

  • You may chant this slowly (one repetition per outbreath), or more quickly (multiple repetitions per outbreath).

  • Visualize the channel between the root, sacral, solar plexus, heart and throat centers running clear.
